The Modern Baby

Hey everyone. So my little boy has just turned one and making sure he is content for most of the day is a battle and a half. He is no longer interested in sitting still and having mummy cuddles (sob!) so I have been constantly on the lookout for ways to distract/entertain him while the weather has been pretty hideous lately.

So with children's TV being somewhat terrible nowadays, this sent me on a search through current apps for iPad seeing as though every time I pick up the thing he runs (hobbles over like a drunk old man) towards it and I found some pretty interesting apps. So here are my top 3:

1.Endless ABC (Free)

A beautiful, coloured app using animated monsters that encourages your child to enjoy learning how to spell. The aim of the game is to place the correct letters in the correct place. After each word, children are rewarded by a funny animation. Even though knowing what the words are is a long way off for us, it's still a really fun game to play letting your toddler press the letters and they make a funny noise.

2.Magic Fingers (£1.49)

So many colours and patterns available, lets your toddler explore what their own fingers can do by drawing patterns all over the screen with lots of different designs all accompanied by soothing music. William was absolutely mesmerised by this one.

A great app, fun but still educational and I don't even feel guilty that this is my favourite. The three different levels from ages 1 through to 3+ allow it to grow with your toddler. I'm sure The Very Hungry Caterpillar is much loved book for most which makes this app even better as it's not lost the traditional format of the books.

Hope you can enjoy these apps with your toddler
